Christmas

Taylor and Kaitlyn are such big helpers. They did all the decorating. They didn't want my help. I think they did a wonderful job.

Last Game

Kaitie's last flag football game. The temp was about 40 degrees with a chilling wind and it was cold out there. Josh was the coach of the game and did an awsome job. The score tied at 7-7. This was our toughest team yet.

Flag footbal

I got to go to Kaitie's game today. Her team is still undefeated. Kaitie scored two touchdowns, one was offensive and one was defensive. That's right she got an interception. Well actually she got two interceptions for the game, but ran the wrong way for one of the interceptions. The coach took out the two girls so other players would have an opportunity to score a touchdown. Needless to say without the two girls in the game, the other team made a try at coming back and scoring two touchdowns. Our team was only up one touchdown, and so the coach put Kaitie and her friend back in the game. That is when she had her second interception. Now there is only two minutes in the game, and we have the ball. It was a boys time to shine and he made the last touchdown. We won 28-14. It was fun to watch. Kaitie is a great player, and most of all she has a good spirit, and even is heard praising the other team for a play well done. We have our last game next week and the coach will be out of town, so Josh is back up coach. Can he keep the winning streak going? It's alot of pressure!!!!

Taylor's finger

I took Taylor's stiches out today. It's been 10 days since his accident. He got an apple slicer from grandma Carol and grandpa Tom in the mail today too. Thanks for that, he already used it.

Kaitie's Birthday #10

Kaitie had a flag football game in which they won 21-14. Kaitie scored one of the touchdowns, and I think I heard a boy from the other team say to his teammate, you got beat by a girl?!!! WE went out to a mexican resturant, she love enchiladas!! then she got a basketball from oliver, because he loves balls. She got a zero gravity remote control car from mom and dad, a bluejay webkins, and a new outfit from grandma Jill. She also made out with some cash. I would say she had a good day all in all. Thanks for all the presents and wishes from everyone.

Update

Not for the Faint!

So we had to start cleaning Taylor's wound tonight, here is what it looks like.

Apple anyone?

So I was alone all weekend, because Josh took the kids up north with him because I had to work. They got home yesterday at about 7:30 pm with a bag of apples from grandmas house. Taylor thought it would be a good snack to have before bed time. He also thought it would be a good idea to use the slicer to cut it. Until he cut his pinkie finger. He was pretty calm about it until he saw all the blood. I now have blood spattered on the floor and the fridge in the kitchen. He had it all over his clothes and face too. We made a trip to the ER and was there until about midnight. he almost cut his little finger tip off. He even cut through the nail. He ended up with five stitches in his little finger. One through his nail and 4 along the finger tip. he did this at about 9:45 pm and we left the ER at 11:30 pm so we got in and out of the ER. This picture was taken right when we got home.

Taylor's Birthday

I still don't have a camera, I hate it. Here is what happened on Taylor's birthday. We asked Taylor what he wanted to do for his birthday, he said first he wants to go fishing, then the canaries game, and then he wanted to go go-carting. He got to do two out of the three. Josh took Taylor fishing and left as I walked in the door from work. When I woke up I took Kaitie and went birthday shopping, nothing like waiting until the last minute. We got home and the boys were home, Taylor caught a bull head and a 10 pound carp. Josh had to finish reeling it in, he got tired of the fight. Then for the third year in a row, we went to Inca's mexican resturant and ate. It's awesome, they sing to him in spanish. We know the staff there quite well and get the royal treatment when we do go in and eat there. It's fun. (That means we love mexican food, and we love to go to Inca's frequently) from there we went to Sioux Falls Canaries baseball game (they are our semi pro team). It was the last game of the season. Taylor caught the first foul ball of the game, then he caught a ball to get a free hot dog, glad he got it I was still stuffed from Incas!!!! I guess he is a growing boy. Then the bad news of the night, they were having "Technical difficulties" with the fire works display, so they had to cancel the show. They have a spectacular show. They have fire works after every night game it's awesome. The canaries ended up winning 9-6, with the help of a grand slam homerun. That was so fun to watch. After every game the kids can run the bases. Kaitie lapped a kid in front of her twice her size. It was fun to watch her run. I think we have an olymipic sptinter in the family. Then since it was the last game of the season, the players stayed out to sign stuff, so the foul ball came in handy. they had their markers ready, so it was so convienent. We still had to have cake, but we were so tired and we light the candles and sang one more happy birthday to Taylor, and he has a lot of girlfriends!!!then we covered the cake and are going to have it for breakfast. Good thing it's not fast Sunday!!!! All in all I think Taylor had a fun day. We asked Kait what she wants to do for her birthday. She wants to go to the Skyforce game (our semi pro basketball team) we will have to see. I can't believe I have an 11 year old. I am getting old now!!!

It's about time!!

Ok so I haven't been the best at keeping up with my blog. I admit it and I also didn't promise anything when I started this. My camera broke and so I have missed out on alot of pictures, so I will try and paint pictures for you!!

Last weekend we went out to a local lake and took the kids tubing. Kaitie I think has the new boat record of staying on the longest!!! Taylor, who even last year, was scared to death to go into the water up to his waist, did pretty good on the tube too. He can give Kaitie a run for her money.

Max and Oliver also took their first ride in the boat. Oliver sat on the back seat and watched the tubers. Max was busy tring to eat the water splashing up from the boat.

I actually got on the tube and didn't do as well as I did ten years ago. Josh dumped me right away, so then he thought he had to take it easy on me. I ended up with a muscle knot in my neck now for the past week and have even had to go see a massaage therapist. I guess I am not as young as I used to be.

I actually did my school shopping early this year and only have gym shoes left to purchase. School starts next Wednesday. Taylor and Kaitie have seemed to have switched places with their pickiness in choosing clothes. Taylor was easier than ever to buy for this year and Kaitie she didn't make out as well as Taylor, she just couldn't find any tops that she liked. We went to a lot of stores to pick out clothes.

I signed up for classes at the college and for finacial aid and hope to start school in September. I will find out shortly if I made it into the RN program. I have submitted all the paperwork now, and just have to wait. I will have finished all of my generals for the bachelors program in nursing and will just need to finish the nursing classes. I am so close now I can almost taste it. Hopefully at this time next year I will have my degree.

Well Kaitie has Mrs. Johnson for a teacher this year and is happy about that. Taylor has a male teacher this year and is excited for that!!

I think that brings everyone up to speed on my summer. It has gone by fast and am excited for school to start. i never thought I would say those words, but it is true, I love school.

I am going to get a new camera so I can add pictures next time. and hopefully I won't wait too long to post again.

Here we are just arriving at Elizabeth,NJ it is about 1/2 hour from New York

On the Road Again.

We left Tuesday afternoon and drove to Palmyra, NY This is where Joseph Smith lived and had his first vision. It is the place of the Sacred Grove, and Hill Comorah is just down the road. We got there an hour after the tours ended, but we went on our own to see everything, I can't describe the peacefulness I felt when I walked into the grove.

After Battery Park we just decided to take a walk and see the sights. We ran into the Federal Building where George Washington was sworn into office as President, we saw Wall St, we saw NYSE (New York Stock Exchange), and we found Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay's Resturant) I wanted to see Little Italy, and China Town, but we couldn't find them.

Ground Zero

This is what Kaitie wanted to do is see ground zero. They had it all fenced in because they are working on the new buildings they are putting there.

Statue of Liberty

So on the last day we saved the Statue of Liberty, we kind of slept in and just took our time, big mistake. We got to Battery Park at around 1pm and it was a two hour wait for tickets to get on the ferry, then another two hour wait to get onto the ferry. By the time we would have gotten on the ferry, Liberty Island would have been closed. so we admired lady liberty from Battery Park. (that is where you get on the ferry to go over.) Actually New York Takes very good care of their parks and they are beautiful. They have a monument in Battery Park of all the people killed in WW1 and WW2 with an eagle there it was quite the memorial.

Top of the Rock

After the Yankee game we went for a walk and found ourselves by Rockefeller Center. We took a tour, They say it is better than the Empire Tower and cheaper too. It was quite the view.

Yankee Game

Of course the main reason we went to New York to see the Yankees play in their stadium for the last year before they build their new one. The game was so fun, they played the Mariners and won 12-6

Memorial Day

Because it was Memorial Weekend we saw a ton of Navy men and Marines walking the streets of New York City, They got alot of handshakes

In the City

After the museum we decided to do a little walking. We walked just North of Penn Station and were at Time Square.

Going to the Museum of Natural History

You may recognize the museaum of natural history from the movie Night at the Museum. First we had to get there. We realized that there are more than one train that goes on the same track. We were supposed to get on the C subway but accidently got on the E, so we were headed to Queens instead of the museum, as you can see in the picture it says Queens.

Going to New York

We took the hotel shuttle to the Newark International Airport then the airtrain to the amtrak station where we could get on the New Jersey Transit to get into the city
We drove straight through to Elizabeth, NJ where our motel was, it is about 1/2 hour from New York City. It took about 19 hours to get there, the kids are still smiling.

New York Trip

We drove straight through to Elizabeth,NJ which is where our motel was it took us about 19hours to get there. The kids were troopers and traveled well.

Getting Started.

I thought that I would give it a try and see what I can come up with. I hopefully can get this up and going throughout the summer especially. But when the fall semester comes I can't guarantee anything. I thought that it would be fun to share our pictures from New York when we return.
